Firefly Chi-Budwig Cream is a yummy breakfast and an excellent way to start the day, supporting the body’s natural detoxification process while providing you with essential nutrients. There is no added sugar nor animal products, and is a great energy boost.
This recipe is inspired by the Kousmine-Budwig cream.
Doctor Catherine Kousmine (1904-1992) understood how food can treat diseases such as cancer and multiple sclerosis. She developed the “Kousmine Method,” which aims to rebalance the body’s biochemical functions through a healthy and vital diet, which is one of the five pillars of her method. Without proper nutrition, improving our immune system and our body’s ability to fight diseases is almost impossible.
The basis of her nutritional approach is whole, organic grains, seasonal fruits and green vegetables, legumes, and especially cold-pressed oils, rich in unsaturated fatty acids (vitamin F).
This recipe, albeit modified from the original, contains all the ingredients that, according to Dr. Kousmine, keep your body young and healthy. The ingredients, of course, should be fresh and organic.
- fresh juice of 1 lime
- 1 tablespoon of cold pressed organic flax seed oil (must be kept cold, so store in fridge)
- 1 banana
- 1 avocado
- 1 tablespoon flaxseed meal
- 1/4 cup raw almonds
- 1 cup almond beverage (Trader Joe’s)
- 2 tablespoons oats or buckwheat
- 1 portion of seasonal fresh fruit (strawberries, raspberries, cherries, grapes, apple, etc.)
Mix with a fork the banana, flax seed oil, and avocado. The cream should have the consistency of whipped cream with no excess oil. Do not add anything else until you achieve a creamy consistency.
Add the almond beverage, the flax seed meal and the remaining ingredients except for the fruit and mix until smooth and creamy.
Add the chopped fruit.
